Continuing the brunch theme, and particularly after New York, I am constantly on the lookout for the elusive ‘Bottomless Brunch’ offer. There have been a few articles (D&D London, Buzzfeed and The Culture Trip) recently on some of the best places to try – which we are now attempting to work our way through – but the first that we tried was Avenue. Described as “catching the buzz of the New York dining scene”, this quintessentially British venue (at least from the outside) certainly has the wow factor. Located around the corner from one of my favourite brunch venues, The Wolseley, in the heart of Mayfair, you definitely feel like you are wandering around in a British brunch-themed movie. But once you get inside this rather cavernous building, you would be forgiven for forgetting that you were in London, so good is the décor of Avenue.
Effortlessly chic, I think the venue is perfect for dates, mother-daughter dates, birthday brunches and for no reason at all apart from the fact that it is the weekend brunches. The menu offers you the option of two or three courses which means that my life is made slightly easier with deciding what to eat. I don’t have to decide between the eggs benedict and the waffles/pancakes – I can have both! The menu is currently just available on Saturday’s from 11am-3pm but I have just seen, and to much excitement, that the bottomless brunch and brunch menu is being extended to Sundays too from the 12 April this year. Aside from the free-flowing bubbles, the food is excellent and waiting staff impeccably polite, which again makes you feel like you are in New York.
This is definitely a venue that I will be trying again soon.
